Dad's Feeling Hot! Hot! Hot!

Scandle Massage Candle

Making Memorial Day Memories….
Because we are so focused on making sure products get into your hands for the Memorial Day weekend, we try to make extra time to remember that this isn’t just the symbolic start to summer, hot dogs, and shopping, it’s also a time for remembrance and support of our American troops.

Memorial Day, originally named Decoration Day, was started in support of the fallen soldiers of the Civil War. Decoration Day was first observed on May 30,1868 when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery 1. Since 1971, Memorial Day honors not only the soldiers of the Civil War, but honors Americans who have died fighting in any war 2.

There are a few easy ways to celebrate our American heroes while still enjoying the start of summer:
  • Attend or sponsor your local memorial day parade to honor those who have given their lives for our nation’s freedom 3
  • Have your visitors sign cards of thank you for Veterans – send them to Operation Gratitude : Thank a Veteran c/o Penny Alfonso 1970 Rangeview Drive Glendale, CA 91201
  • Each year on Memorial Day, a national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 pm local time 4. There’s still time to organize a moment of respectful silence in your area.
As we celebrate our American soldiers, many of us love to spend Memorial Day enjoying our time with family and yes…shopping! Americans flock to the stores to find the best prices on their favorite products during this weekend, and we business owners need to be prepared. Make sure you’re stocked up on all of our wonderful products so that your customers can take home a little indulgence for themselves and someone special. According to AAA in 2013, median spending was expected to be up to $765 per household 5. Make sure you’re ready for them to spend that with you!

Father's Day - What More Could a Dad Want?
As you all know, Father’s Day is fast approaching. It is an arguably 105 year old holiday whose origins started in Spokane, Washington by a Ms. Sonora Louise Smart Dodd 6.

Now, as much as we all love our fathers, some of us (ourselves included) have the tendency to buy them the same gift every year.Let’s make a change this year and celebrate Dad’s hard working, over used and sometimes under appreciated muscles.  An amazing massage isn’t just for Moms anymore; Dads deserve pampering and they absolutely appreciate massages from their loved ones. Scandle Candle is here save the day with many possibilities.  Just two of our options are our sinful Sex on the Beach or relaxing Green Tea & Aloe candles.
  • Sex on the Beach is an amazing blend of ripe peach, fresh orange and coconut which helps remind Dad of the next vacation that could be coming up.
  • Our Green Tea & Aloe incorporates fresh citrus, jasmine petals, and a woodsy sweet musk to relax and remove life’s stresses for your Dad.
Scandle Candle’s motto is Blow it Out. Pour it On.  Our candles melt just a few degrees above body heat for the most relaxing and rejuvenating massage possible.  Dad will go back to the grind after Father’s Day feeling ready to conquer the world!

Remember to start planning for Summer now – It’s Going to be HOT, HOT, HOT!

Now, this may seem CRAZY to think about since most of you are still enjoying springs storms and moderate temperatures, but we are quickly approaching the HOT time of year. For our tried and true partners, you know what this means.

One of the things people love about our candles is our low melt point.  During the summer (READ: HOT) months, shipping to hot places like Arizona, Nevada, etc can be a challenge.

Consider ordering shortly and stocking up to fill your retail, store, back-bar, etc. till August-September.
You’ll see more notes about this as we get closer.   We don’t want you or your customers to run short of our products.

The great thing about Scandle Candle is that you Blow it Out. Pour it On.

Sending Some Healing Your Way
With the weather this year, it provides a different way to look at “March Madness”. Usually we are thinking about where our favorite basketball teams are bracketed. This year, many of us are just hoping that it will stop snowing!

With the cold, we are hearing that some of your customers are hunkered down in their houses and staying put. Whether they are watching the March Madness games or trying trying to recover from their latest encounter with old man winter - send some Healing their way.

Our luxury spa-grade blend in our Massage Candles was developed just for times like now. Cold weather can make our poor skin cracked and dry. So, get some relief with our Massage Candles that are all specially blended with:
  • Soy Butter (high in lecithin, sterolins, vitamin E, omega 3 fatty acids and isoflavones)
  • Shea Butter (with Vitamins A, E and natural fatty acids)
  • Jojoba Oil (an excellent moisturizer)
Just think, that wonderful moisturizing blend, heated just a few degrees above body temperature could easily warm up your viewpoint on this cold March weather. We like to say, "A candle never felt so good!"

We kicked our Massage Candles up a notch with our Aromatherapy Massage Candle Blends. Made of all-natural Essential Oils, these candles are true Aromatherapy.

For times like these, we turn to our Healing Blend. We added the all-natural essential oils of Tea Tree and Lemongrass. Why these two?
  • Tea Tree Essential Oil – made from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia plant, is believed to have antibacterial and anti-fungal properties 1
  • Lemongrass Essential Oil– Some of you may have had food with Lemongrass, but might not use it.  Why not?  This essential oil, made from the lemongrass plant, and has some wonderful medicinal properties.  It has been used throughout the world and is one of the most popular Essential Oils.2

Focus on Fresh - Peppermint Essential Oil Benefits

Today in our continuing series on our Scandle Aromatherapy Essentials Massage Candle, we focus our attention on one of the most widely used of all aromatic essential oils - peppermint, which is also one of the essential oils in our Fresh Blend.

Peppermint was known as far back as 1000 BC by the Egyptians, who designated the herb to Horus1, the “falcon-headed god of light.2

The myth surrounding Peppermint, or Minthe or Mentha as it was known by the Romans, is fascinating.  Peppermint (Mentha) was said to be a nymph, or female spirit, loved by Pluto, the god of the dead.  When his queen found about this love, she trampled Mentha.  Pluto brought her back to life as Peppermint. So, the more the mint was walked on the sweeter the smell.  2 3

Over history, great leaders have believed that Peppermint was an aphrodisiac, which caused great controversy.  Alexander the Great forbade it on his battlefield for this reason.  Aristotle even included Peppermint in his writings.3 Modern scientists say that Peppermint can help one concentrate and stay awake and alert. 1

Other uses for peppermint include:4

  • Aid in digestive disorders
  • Relieve muscle spasms and arthritis
  • Clear sinuses and lung congestion
  • Treatment of dry skin conditions
So put some pep in your spa or massage practice and experience the benefits of this amazing essential oil in our Fresh Aromatherapy Essentials Massage Candle today!
